Gin is a life-long resident of
Dartmouth. He received his education from Mount Saint Vincent
University, Dartmouth High, Bicentennial School, Notting Park,
and Southdale-North Woodside.
During his time at Dartmouth High
School, Gin was very involved in student activities and was a
member of student council. Upon graduation he was honored with a
Gold "D", and was the recipient of the award for the highest
participation during his three years at the school.
At Mount Saint Vincent
University, Gin served in numerous positions. He was a member of
the university's Board of Governors, Chair of Student Council,
and Managing Editor of the university's student paper.
Gin's involvement in the
community has included Chair of the Halifax Transit Advisory
Committee and a member of the Dartmouth Youth Committee. Gin was
Treasurer at Volleyball Nova Scotia and Treasurer for the Nova
Scotia Volleyball Officials Association. For the last two years,
Gin has been a member of Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Greater Halifax and the Big Brothers Big Sisters (HRM)
Foundation.
Gin has worked for several local
businesses, including his family's Chinese restaurant, Mei Mee
Foods on Wyse Road, Mount Saint Vincent University, and Aliant.
In January 2003, he joined Drugstore.com and now he is the IT /
Telecom Manager.
Gin Yee was first elected to the
Halifax Regional School Board in October 2004 and served on the
following committees:
