No decision was made yesterday on board members' stipends, which run an annual tab of about $130,000.

Education Minister Karen Casey sacked the entire elected Halifax Regional School Board Tuesday.

Casey she doesn't have the power to retract board members' annual stipends and isn't happy with the thought that they may continue to be paid after members were fired.

The department, the regional school board and the Nova Scotia School Boards Association will make a joint decision on the stipend and release it possibly in the next few days.

Gin Yee said yesterday he plans to give back his stipend. "I feel that I'm not entitled to the school board pay," said the former Dartmouth member. "It would be unfair to taxpayers."
