Speech to the Dartmouth High's Class of 2006

It is a privilege to be here today to bring best wishes on behalf of the Halifax Regional School Board.

It was only 11 years ago that I crossed this stage to graduate as a proud Dartmouth High Spartan. As I look out at all of you it seems like yesterday.

I am grateful that I received an education that prepared me so well for the future, and spurred a lasting interest in public education.

As you set out upon the many different paths your lives will take, I wish you much success and happiness.

May you obtain all of the goals you hold today, and may you always find new goals to reach for tomorrow.

I urge you to remember the importance of giving back to your community, of being a role model to the generation that comes behind you.

I would also like to use this opportunity to thank the staff, teachers and administration of Dartmouth High for teaching, mentoring and leading these young people through these crucial years.

In closing, I would simply like to say congratulations Class of 2006. Do Dartmouth High proud.
